Ordering, Shipping & Purchasing FAQ
Have a question about ordering from RyTek Marine, shipping, tracking, tariffs, product selection or what happens after your order is placed? This guide covers many of the most common questions we receive from customers in Canada, the United States and around the world.
Ordering & Purchasing
Can I buy individual adapters or components instead of a complete mount?
For many RyTek Marine products, replacement parts and individual components are available. However, our Stainless Series transom mounts are manufactured as matched sets and are not sold as mix-and-match complete assemblies.
The related components for each mount are laser cut and manufactured together as a set. Because of this, we do not substitute a raising or lowering upper bracket in place of the standard upper bracket supplied with the mount.
If you believe your installation may require a raising or lowering upper bracket, you can order the additional bracket at the same time as your mount.
Another option is to order the standard mount first. The standard configuration works for the vast majority of applications, and if you later determine that additional height adjustment is required, the raising or lowering upper bracket can be ordered separately.
What information should I have before ordering a RyTek Marine mount?
To help make sure you order the correct mount the first time, it is helpful to know your exact transducer model, the boat or trolling motor / turret / pole setup it will be mounted to, and where you plan to install it.
For some applications, especially custom or less common setups, a photo of the mounting area can also be very helpful.
If you are unsure which model or configuration you need, contact RyTek Marine before ordering. We can usually determine the proper setup from your transducer information, boat or trolling motor details and a few photos.
It is always better to ask first than order something you are unsure about.
What if I order the wrong mount or adapter?
If you realize you ordered the wrong mount, adapter or configuration, contact RyTek Marine as soon as possible.
In many cases, if the order has not yet shipped, we may be able to correct the order before it leaves.
If the order has already shipped or been received, contact us with your order information and details about your setup. We can help determine what part or configuration you actually need and work through the best solution from there.
Because many RyTek Marine mounting systems use interchangeable or serviceable components, correcting an ordering mistake does not always mean replacing the entire mount.
If you are unsure before placing an order, it is always better to contact us first with your transducer and mounting information.
Can I change or add something to my order after it has been placed?
If you need to change a product, add an accessory or correct something on your order, contact RyTek Marine as soon as possible.
If the order has not yet been packaged or shipped, we can often make the change before it leaves.
For additions, we may be able to combine items into the same shipment depending on timing. If the order has already been processed or shipped, a separate order may be required.
Because many RyTek Marine products are built and packaged specifically for the application selected, it is always best to contact us quickly if you notice something that needs to be changed.
Can I place an order by phone or email?
For first-time customers, we strongly recommend placing your first order directly through the RyTek Marine website.
RyTek Marine ships products throughout Canada, the United States and around the world, so having the correct name, shipping address, postal / ZIP code, email address and contact information entered properly from the beginning is extremely important.
Ordering through the website allows the customer to enter and verify their own information, which helps reduce the chance of address or shipping errors—especially when the order may be traveling thousands of miles rather than simply going down the road.
If you are unsure which product you need, you are always welcome to contact RyTek Marine before ordering and we will gladly help you select the correct mount or accessories. Once the proper product has been determined, first-time customers are encouraged to complete the order through the website so all customer and shipping information is entered correctly.
For returning customers or special situations, contact RyTek Marine and we can work through the best way to handle the order.
Can I add an accessory or extra part to an order I already placed?
If your order has not yet been packed or shipped, contact RyTek Marine as soon as possible.
In many cases, we can add an accessory, replacement part or extra component to the same shipment so you do not have to pay for a second package.
Once the original order has already been processed or shipped, a separate order may be required.
Because timing matters, the sooner you contact us, the better the chance we can combine everything into one shipment.
Shipping, Tracking & Delivery
How are RyTek Marine orders shipped?
Canadian orders are shipped through Canada Post. U.S. orders are shipped through Canada Post and transferred to USPS after entering the United States.
International customers outside Canada and the United States are given two shipping options at checkout:
- Expedited International — includes tracking and insurance.
- Small Packet International Air — does not include tracking or insurance, but is usually less expensive and can sometimes have a slightly faster quoted service time.
For most international destinations, both services typically arrive in around two weeks, although actual delivery times can vary depending on the country and local postal system.
Since RyTek Marine began shipping internationally in 2018, we have not had a single international order fail to arrive using either service.
Once an order with tracking ships, you will receive the tracking number by email. For U.S. orders, tracking often becomes more detailed once the package enters the USPS system.
How long does shipping usually take?
RyTek Marine ships orders as quickly as possible, with most orders leaving the shop the same day or within two business days of being placed.
For Canada and the United States, current delivery times are typically averaging around 6–12 business days, although some orders arrive in under a week and others can take a little longer.
U.S. orders may experience occasional delays while passing through customs, especially on some routes through major processing centers such as Chicago. Because every U.S. order is shipping from Canada, customs processing can add a few days to the delivery time.
The delivery date shown when your shipping label is created should be treated as a best-case estimate, not a guaranteed delivery date.
Once your order enters the United States, you can usually get the most current tracking information by entering your tracking number directly into the USPS tracking system.
For international orders, delivery time depends on the service selected and the destination country. In many parts of the world, both Expedited International and Small Packet International Air typically arrive within approximately 1–2 weeks, although customs and local postal services can sometimes extend that time.
For international orders with tracking, once the package arrives in your country, entering the Canada Post tracking number into your local postal service’s tracking system can often provide more up-to-date information.
If you selected Small Packet International Air, please remember that this service does not include tracking or insurance. RyTek Marine has shipped hundreds of international orders using this service and, since 2018, we have not had a customer fail to receive their order.
If you have any questions or concerns about a shipment, contact RyTek Marine and we will do our best to help.
Why does my U.S. tracking sometimes look slow or incomplete?
U.S. orders ship from Canada and must pass through customs before entering the USPS network. During that handoff, tracking updates can sometimes appear slow, incomplete or unchanged for several days even though the package is still moving through the system.
Once the shipment has entered the United States, USPS tracking will often provide the most current updates.
If your tracking appears delayed, please keep in mind that customs processing times can vary and short gaps between scans are not unusual.
If you are concerned about your shipment, contact RyTek Marine with your order information and we will gladly help look into it.
Are there any additional tariffs, duties or brokerage fees on U.S. orders?
For U.S. orders, all applicable fees are shown at checkout, including the current U.S. tariff where applicable.
The amount is shown before you complete the order, so what you see at checkout is what you pay.
There should be no additional tariff, brokerage or delivery fees due when your order arrives.
RyTek Marine continues to ship U.S. orders through Canada Post / USPS, which helps keep the process straightforward and avoids the surprise brokerage charges that can sometimes come with courier shipments.
If you have any questions about the charges shown at checkout, contact RyTek Marine before placing the order and we will gladly explain them.
Do international customers have to pay customs, VAT or import duties?
Possibly.
International orders may be subject to customs duties, VAT, tariffs or other import charges depending on the country where you live.
These charges are determined by your local government or customs authority and are not collected by RyTek Marine at the time of purchase.
If additional customs, VAT, tariff or import fees apply, they are typically collected by the destination country’s postal service or customs authority when the shipment arrives or before it is released for delivery.
Any of these destination-country charges are the responsibility of the customer.
Because every country handles imported goods differently, RyTek Marine cannot guarantee what additional charges may apply. If you are unsure, it is a good idea to check with your local customs or postal authority before ordering.
What happens if my package is delayed in customs?
Customs delays can happen from time to time, especially on international shipments and U.S. orders crossing the border.
In most cases, a delay does not mean the package is lost. It simply means the shipment is waiting to be processed or released by customs before continuing through the postal system.
Tracking may not always update while the package is in customs, so it can sometimes appear as though the shipment has stopped moving.
If your package seems delayed, please be patient and continue checking the tracking information. For U.S. orders, USPS tracking often becomes more detailed once the package clears customs and enters their network.
If you are concerned about a shipment, contact RyTek Marine with your order information and we will do our best to help.
Why does my Canada Post tracking stop updating after my order enters the United States?
RyTek Marine ships U.S. orders through Canada Post, and once the package enters the United States it is handed over to USPS for final delivery.
During that handoff, the Canada Post tracking page may stop showing detailed updates or may appear to stall even though the shipment is still moving normally through customs and the U.S. postal system.
Once your package has entered the United States, simply copy and paste the same tracking number supplied by RyTek Marine into the USPS tracking system. USPS will usually provide the most current and detailed tracking information for the remainder of the shipment.
Track your U.S. shipment directly with USPS here:
https://tools.usps.com/go/TrackConfirmAction_input
A gap in Canada Post tracking does not necessarily mean there is a problem with the shipment. In many cases, it simply means USPS has become the carrier providing the more detailed updates.
What should I do if my tracking has not updated for several days?
Tracking gaps are not unusual, especially while a shipment is moving between Canada Post, customs and the destination country’s postal service.
For U.S. orders, once the package enters the United States, check the same tracking number directly through USPS because their system will often show newer scans than Canada Post.
For tracked international orders, once the shipment reaches your country, try entering the Canada Post tracking number into your local postal service’s tracking system for more detailed updates.
If there has been no movement for an extended period and you are concerned, contact RyTek Marine with your order information and we will gladly help review the shipment.
What if my order appears to be stuck in customs or at a postal depot?
Occasionally, a shipment can sit at customs or at a postal processing depot for several days without showing any movement.
In most cases, the package is not lost. It has simply been delayed during customs processing or has been held at a depot before moving on to the next stage of delivery.
If a tracked shipment has shown no movement for 10 days, RyTek Marine can open an inquiry with Canada Post and have a service ticket created for the shipment.
In many cases, once the inquiry is opened, the package begins moving again within the following week.
This does not happen often, especially compared with the number of orders RyTek Marine ships each year, but it can happen from time to time.
RyTek Marine has shipped 6,000+ website orders, and we have never had a shipment that was temporarily “stuck” at customs or a postal depot fail to eventually arrive.
In fact, out of more than 6,000 website orders, only one shipment has ever been permanently lost, and that occurred during the height of COVID-related shipping disruptions.
If your shipment appears to be stuck, contact RyTek Marine and we will help monitor it and open an inquiry when the shipment qualifies.
Returns, Exchanges & Order Issues
What if I ordered the wrong mount or part?
If you realize you ordered the wrong mount, adapter or accessory, contact RyTek Marine as soon as possible.
If the order has not yet shipped, we may be able to correct it before it leaves.
If the order has already been delivered, contact us with your order information, transducer model and details about your setup. In many cases, we can help determine what you actually need and whether the issue can be solved with a different adapter, bracket or component instead of replacing the entire mount.
Because many RyTek Marine products are application-specific, it is always best to contact us before returning anything so we can first make sure we understand the problem and the correct solution.
What is RyTek Marine’s return or exchange policy?
RyTek Marine accepts returns within 30 days of the customer receiving the order.
All returned products must be in absolute new, unused and never-installed condition. Any marks or marring from fasteners or installation are considered signs of use and the product will not qualify for a refund.
Approved returns are subject to a 20% restocking fee, and the customer is responsible for return shipping costs.
Before returning anything, please contact RyTek Marine so we can confirm the return and provide the correct return address and instructions.
For U.S. customers, returns must be shipped using USPS (United States Postal Service) and should be clearly marked “Returned Goods.” Please do not return products using UPS or FedEx, as these carriers can generate brokerage, customs or import charges when the shipment re-enters Canada. Any customs or brokerage charges applied to a return will be deducted from the refund.
If the value of the return is over $50, we require a trackable shipping service or shipping insurance and ask that you provide us with the tracking number.
If you ordered the wrong product and it is still in new, unused condition, we are happy to exchange it. The customer is responsible for the return shipping and the cost of shipping the replacement product back to them. Any applicable U.S. duties or tariffs may also need to be paid again on the replacement shipment.
Once the returned product has been received and inspected, approved refunds are issued back to the original payment method.
Can I exchange an item if I ordered the wrong one?
Yes, as long as the item is returned in new, unused and never-installed condition.
If you ordered the wrong item, contact RyTek Marine first so we can confirm what you actually need and make sure the replacement product is correct before anything is shipped back.
The customer is responsible for the cost of shipping the original item back to RyTek Marine, as well as the cost of shipping the replacement item back to them.
For U.S. customers, any applicable duties or tariff charges will need to be paid again on the replacement shipment.
All U.S. returns must be sent by USPS and clearly marked “Returned Goods” to help avoid unnecessary customs or brokerage charges when the shipment re-enters Canada.
Can I cancel an order after it has been placed?
Yes, but timing matters.
If you need to cancel an order, contact RyTek Marine as soon as possible.
If the order is canceled before the shipping label has been created, the order can be refunded, including any applicable U.S. duties or tariff charges that have not yet been submitted. Canceled and refunded orders are subject to the applicable non-refundable credit-card transaction fee outlined in RyTek Marine’s Refund & Return Policy.
If the shipping label has already been created but the package is still in our possession and has not yet been dropped off with Canada Post, the product and shipping charges can still be refunded. However, any applicable U.S. duties or tariff charges are non-refundable once the shipping label has been created.
Once the order has shipped, it can no longer be canceled. If you decide you no longer want the order after delivery, it must be handled through RyTek Marine’s regular return process.
Are U.S. duties or tariffs refundable if I cancel or return an order?
Applicable U.S. duties or tariff charges can only be refunded if the order is canceled before the shipping label is created.
Once the shipping label has been created, those charges are considered submitted and become non-refundable, even if the order is later canceled before it physically leaves RyTek Marine.
If an order is returned after delivery, any applicable U.S. duties or tariff charges originally paid are not included in the refund.
For exchanges, any applicable U.S. duties or tariff charges will also need to be paid again on the replacement shipment.
What happens if my shipment is actually lost by the postal service?
If a tracked shipment is believed to be lost, RyTek Marine can open a claim with Canada Post beginning on the 10th business day after the shipment date.
Canada Post will then complete an additional inquiry period, which can take up to 10 days. During that process, they may contact the receiver by phone or email to confirm that the package was not delivered.
Once Canada Post confirms the shipment is lost, RyTek Marine can either:
- refund the order, including the original shipping cost, or
- send a replacement order at no additional charge
Actual lost shipments are extremely rare. Out of more than 6,000 website orders, RyTek Marine has only had one shipment permanently lost, and that occurred during the height of COVID-related postal disruptions.
If your tracking has simply stopped moving, that does not automatically mean the package is lost. In most cases, delayed shipments begin moving again once a Canada Post inquiry is opened.
What if my order arrives damaged?
If your order arrives damaged, contact RyTek Marine as soon as possible and include photos of the packaging, shipping label and damaged product.
Please keep all packaging until the issue has been reviewed, since the postal service may require photos or other information as part of a damage claim.
Once we have the information, RyTek Marine will work with you to determine the best solution, whether that means replacing a damaged component, replacing the product or handling the issue through the carrier.
